In conjunction with the National Campaign to Stop Violence, I have been committed to speaking out against youth violence in our schools and communities. Just turn on the television or open a newspaper; news of youth violence are splashed across every page. Recently we've seen and heard of the several incidents of violence across America, including the church shootings in Colorado Springs, the Nebraska mall shootings, the Virginia Tech shootings, and the Jena Six disputes. We, as Americans, must come together to educate ourselves and others to fight for solutions to this epidemic that is plaguing our society. We must identify the underlying causes of violent acts perpetrated by the younger generation and take action in preventing further crimes.
